Vortex Optics is a veteran founded, employee-owned small business from Barneveld Wisconsin. A global leader in the sporting optics industry, Vortex specializes in small arm weapon sights. In 2022 Vortex won the US. Army’s the Next Generation Squad Weapon-Fire Control (NGSW-FC) program to produce the M157 Small Arms Fire Control (SAFC) which focuses on increasing US soldier lethality. Since then, Vortex has produced and delivered over 20,000 SAFC to the U.S. Army.
The M157 Sight is a 1-8x30mm riflescope with Vortex’s Active Reticle® technology which integrates a display into the first focal plane. It has an onboard ballistic solver, atmospheric sensors and a compass. The M157 Sight is fielded with a modular Laser Range Finder (LRF) with visible and IR aiming lasers. The M157 Sight’s best in class optics facilitate fast close-quarters battle (CQB) engagements and accurate fire beyond 600 m with the push of a button.
The Active Reticle® generates marked points of aim directly in the user’s sight picture based on the integrated ballistic solver and the atmospheric readings. Paired with the modular LRF, the M157 Sight provides firing solutions in less than a second. At the press of a button, it ranges a target, calculates the ballistics, and displays an accurate point of aim in the user’s field of view.
The M157 SAFC’s versatile design is compatible with nearly all shoulder fired weapon systems and its modular structure allows the M157 SAFC to fit the needs of the operator. It can be configured at the user level through various enablers including, but not limited to, LRF, Laser Aiming Modules (LAM), thermal imagers, and combinations thereof. This modularity ensures the M157 Sight meets the changing demands of the modern battlefield.
The M157 Sight has proven a strategic success by fostering American lens manufacturing and leveraging American electronics, machined components and molded parts. The M157 SAFC is assembled in Barneveld, Wisconsin and is Made in USA of U.S. and Imported Parts.
